New UGA Mascot Take Reins at University of Georgia
On a sunny afternoon in Athens, Georgia, the University of Georgia (UGA) celebrated a momentous occasion – the passing of the collar from the famed UGA X, known as “Que,” to the newly appointed mascot, UGA XI, named “Boom.” It was an event steeped in tradition, honor, and Bulldog pride.

Winning Tradition
UGA X, the all-time winningest mascot in the university’s history, has been a symbol of the Bulldog spirit since 2015. With an incredible 91 wins and only 18 losses under his tenure, Que has solidified his place in the UGA annals. As the school’s mascot, he has inspired countless students, athletes, and fans, becoming a beloved figure on campus and beyond.
The collar ceremony, held at the university’s Sanford Stadium, was attended by hundreds of UGA supporters, faculty, and students. With the iconic red and black collar in hand, Que’s handler ceremoniously passed it on to the eager and excited UGA XI, marking the beginning of a new era for the Bulldog Nation.
Boom, UGA XI, The Newest Mascot
Boom, a white English Bulldog, is the latest in a long line of UGA mascots dating back to 1956. Following in the footsteps of his successful predecessor, Boom will be the face of the university’s athletic program, representing the school with pride and enthusiasm. The collar ceremony symbolized not only the passing of the torch between two mascots but also the continuation of a rich tradition that has come to define the University of Georgia.
