New UGA Mascot Take Reins at University of Georgia

On a sunny afternoon in Athens, Georgia, the University of Georgia (UGA) celebrated a momentous occasion – the passing of the collar from the famed UGA X, known as “Que,” to the newly appointed mascot, UGA XI, named “Boom.” It was an event steeped in tradition, honor, and Bulldog pride.

Good Shepherd Roofing, as your hometown Georgia roofer, loves our SEC traditions and this is one of the best there is.  We know getting a roof replacement is a lot of excitement but shepherding a new mascot into Sanford Stadium , home of the Bulldogs, coming off a 2022 National Championship season, well…that’s a whole different level of excitement.

Winning Tradition

UGA X, the all-time winningest mascot in the university’s history, has been a symbol of the Bulldog spirit since 2015. With an incredible 91 wins and only 18 losses under his tenure, Que has solidified his place in the UGA annals. As the school’s mascot, he has inspired countless students, athletes, and fans, becoming a beloved figure on campus and beyond.

The collar ceremony, held at the university’s Sanford Stadium, was attended by hundreds of UGA supporters, faculty, and students. With the iconic red and black collar in hand, Que’s handler ceremoniously passed it on to the eager and excited UGA XI, marking the beginning of a new era for the Bulldog Nation.

Boom, UGA XI, The Newest Mascot

Boom, a white English Bulldog, is the latest in a long line of UGA mascots dating back to 1956. Following in the footsteps of his successful predecessor, Boom will be the face of the university’s athletic program, representing the school with pride and enthusiasm. The collar ceremony symbolized not only the passing of the torch between two mascots but also the continuation of a rich tradition that has come to define the University of Georgia.  Good Shepherd Roofing also carries on it’s traditions in the shadow of this hallowed institution by providing expert roof replacement and roof repair services to citizens in Athens, Georgia and citizens all around the metro Atlanta area.

As Que moves into a well-earned retirement, he leaves behind a legacy of victories, community spirit, and the unwavering support of his fellow Bulldogs. UGA XI, with his new collar and the love of the Bulldog Nation behind him, is poised to carry on that tradition, striving for excellence both on and off the field.

With the collar now secured around his neck, Boom embarks on his journey as the University of Georgia’s new mascot. The Bulldog Nation eagerly anticipates the many triumphs and cherished memories that UGA XI will undoubtedly bring in the coming years.  Good Shepherd Roofing is excited for Bulldog Nation and really excited to see what happens in this 2023 season.  Go Dawgs!
